    International Student Perspective

NYU Langone is a friendly environment to a large network of international students and post-docs.

Vilcek has a strong international population, attracting students because of its diverse academic programs and people.

The environment at Vilcek allows all students to participate in unique and rewarding experiences throughout their time as a graduate student.

So what brought me to NYU being an international student was really wanting to get access to a medical center, to a medical program that I really felt was world class. Coming from Germany, I think, what brought me to NYU was that the overall structure of the program was very different than I would have had a program in Europe. My name is Joshua Frenster, I'm a Ph.D. Student from Germany. I like the idea of it being an umbrella program where I can choose the tracks or the specialization at a later time point. There is a lot going on here. A lot of talks. I've seen a bunch of Nobel laureates give talks while I've been here without ever expecting that. It lends itself to international students coming here because there's already so many different programs or perspectives that are easy for international students to click into. NYU was organizing an event where they took us all out for for a Yankees baseball game. And I, as a German, had never really been into baseball. I had barely watched a full game ever before. And without expecting anything there was a home run coming straight towards me. I just out of reflex caught it. And it was a huge surprise. I went there without any expectations and ended up catching the home run of the game.
