    Summer Undergraduate Research Program

Our summer undergraduate research program (SURP) runs for 9 weeks each summer, recruiting undergraduate students interested in MD, MD/PhD, or PhD training.

Students work in a lab on a research project.

They present the results at the end of the summer, both in a poster session to the Langone community and at the Leadership Alliance National Symposium.

During the summer, students participate in academic seminars, local events around the city (Concert in the Park, Broadway show, Top of the Rock, and more!) and live in student housing.

Our program is an ideal way to experience life as a graduate student in the heart of Manhattan!

SURP is the Summer Undergraduate Research Program that NYU is offering that's basically a summer program where students from different universities or students doing their undergrads can come to NYU. It basically lets you live the life of a graduate student for nine weeks. So you live at NYU housing. You work at an NYU lab. You go to NYU seminars. Basically, this is your chance to really get the glimpse of what life as a graduate student would be like. And it was a very impactful experience for me, because I walked out of here knowing that I wanted to come back. First, because of the attention that I got from the administration at that time. And also because I really fell in love with New York City and its environment. I think my favorite part in SURP, besides the Broadway show for example, was actually the leadership alliance conference at the end of the SURP. It's a national meeting where you get to showcase what you did over that summer. It was basically the first chance for me to go to conference as a researcher, presenting the work that I had done.
