    Leadership

Vilcek leadership is dedicated to training future scientists and critical thinkers by  fostering an inclusive and collegial environment supportive of scientific discovery and professional growth.

We are committed to developing and managing high academic programs, providing a supportive environment where students can engage and excel, and working to advance the diversity, equity and inclusion of our underrepresented students.

Leadership listens to student feedback to continuously evaluate our programs and develop new initiatives to fit the needs of our community in this changing research landscape.

To put it very simple, I want graduate school to be a place where students get the best possible training in an environment that is inspiring. In an environment that is motivating them to do the best that they can, and that they leave this place with a love for science irrespective of what they're going to be doing.

By bringing faculty, who are outstanding scientists, from outside and we can pair them with, you know, our students who are eager to do work. That's going to be the the ideal situation where you know, science will move forward. Administration, first of all, listens to what students need. The [INAUDIBLE] advises students to write grants, give them rewards for successfully obtaining fellowships. We ask them to help us recruit prospective applicants. We encourage students to form various groups-- community groups, that they feel they need and so that this way, you know, students have lots of ideas. They really are the drivers of science. I mean, that's why it's so critical that we bring in top students and help them to catalyze you know these new ideas, and move science in new directions.
